Yoga Poses – Asana

I have not attended many yoga classes over the years; most of my practice happens quietly at home. The classes I have joined were led by teachers with at least 200 hours of training, guiding students through a sequence of postures known as a “flow.” These classes often emphasize steady, intentional breathing, yet they rarely explore mindfulness or the philosophical roots of yoga.

My broader intention is to share reflections on ashtanga yoga, the eight‑limbed path, in a separate series of meditations. Here, however, I want to offer a space devoted to simple, accessible yoga postures—asana in Sanskrit. Each posture will include practical instructions for how to enter and hold the pose, along with a mindful approach that encourages attention to the body, the breath, and the present moment.

I should note that I am not a certified yoga teacher and have not completed formal training. What I share comes from reading, watching skilled practitioners, and practicing these postures myself. Please avoid any pose that feels uncomfortable or overly difficult. When helpful, I will suggest modifications to make a posture more approachable. And when in doubt, consult a certified yoga instructor who can offer guidance tailored to your body’s needs.

I hope this section of my site becomes a gentle companion for those interested in a yoga practice—something useful, grounding, and easy to return to.

Peace.
